The
hypnotherapy session- Pre-hypnosis
Generally speaking, before the actual hypnosis part of
the session, we have time to discuss how you are feeling and any queries
you may have, as the hypnosis part of the session is about to begin, you
will be invited to relax in a reclining chair or a couch and you will be
gently guided, in your own time and at your own pace, into a state of deep
physical and mental relaxation.
In the hypnotic state
While in hypnosis, you are still generally aware (in fact, your awareness is usually
heightened) of your surroundings, and can choose to come out of
hypnosis at any time. A hypnotherapist can not hypnotise you against your
will, they cannot make you do or say anything that you do not want to, and
whilst in hypnosis you remain in full control throughout. You
can not get ‘stuck’ in this state and should you have any concerns or
questions about the therapy, please write them down to bring along to the
consultation or the session itself, no question is a silly question and I welcome them. We take things
as a steady pace, the hypnosis part of the session will generally begin by
me asking you to relax all of the muscles in your body progressively, once
your body and mind is relaxed, this is when you can make positive changes
to the way you think, feel and behave. Once this part of the hypnosis is
finished, you are gently counted out of the hypnosis and return back to the
‘normal’ waking state feeling very refreshed usually, similar to the lovely
feelings you get when you’ve had a long nap!
After the hypnotherapy session
At the end of the hypnosis session, you will be gently
returned to the normal waking state. Most new clients are surprised at how
far away the reality of hypnotherapy is from any prior expectation of 'mind
control', and find the experience deeply relaxing. Most are surprised that
they are very aware of what I am saying to them during hypnosis, after the
first session you should hopefully be noticing some small changes in the
way you think, feel or behave dependent on the type of treatment you have
had. Sometimes it may be other people that notice slight changes, such as
your family or friends, they may notice and then mention these changes to
you before you have noticed yourself!
