Relaxation
therapy
There are many different areas of relaxation
therapy, and many different ways in which it can be applied dependent on individual
circumstances, relaxation therapy is about you working towards ‘Mens Sana in Corpore
Sano’ - A healthy mind in a healthy body. There is more information
about the varying relaxation therapy techniques and difference in sessions
on the ‘What is Relaxation Therapy?’ click the link to your left.
When the mind is
overwhelmed by pressure, by too many thoughts, confused, irritable, it is
difficult for the body to function harmoniously and to find balance. In
order to think clearly, we need to empty the mind, this is where relaxation
therapy can help play its part.
In the rapid
growth of our cities, bringing into closer proximity more people, more cars
and noise and a faster pace of life, too many of us do not have the time or
the energy to relax completely. Knowing what we need to create the balance
between activity and rest may in itself be too much to think about. Many
people find themselves trying to relax through television, alcohol or drugs
or over-eating. These are the most common elements of resource that people
take when so tense that they don’t have the energy, or the know-how to deal
with the problem in any other way.
My
role as a relaxation therapist
My role as a
therapist is to provide a friendly, relaxed and supportive environment
where you, the client, can experience a state of deep relaxation. To assist
you and to educate in the art of relaxation so you can achieve maximum
benefit from the therapy.
A
relaxed body by definition
A relaxed body by
definition, must be one that is free of discomfort and disharmony, which
requires a certain level of physical fitness and freedom from disease.
Relaxation therapy involves deep relaxation of both physical and mental
states.
What
happens during a relaxation therapy session
As mentioned
above, treatments vary accordingly, but generally the first part of the
session is about welcoming you to the session and going through the plan of
the session before it begins, also this first part of the session is about
gaining insight into how you are feeling. The next part of the session will
involve learning new skills, being guided through various techniques and
tools that you can utilise long after the session, learning then and using
these skills for life. Please see ‘what happens in a relaxation therapy session’ for
more details about what happens during each of the treatments.
